Humans crave communication, and we spend most of our waking hours communicating with other humans. There are numerous possible forms of communication, which I will discuss in this essay. What amazes me is how little thought people give to which form of communication is most appropriate under the circumstances.

This essay is a work in process. Several people have asked that I post it because they were interested in the sections I have written. I hope to finish it by November, 2005.

I am writing this essay in Microsoft Word. Every so often, I create .pdf and html files from the master Word file. Thus, I recommend that you read the Word version, since it is guaranteed to be the most current.

I welcome your comments. If you are willing to provide comments, please download the Word version and edit the file in Word. Please use the blacklining feature in Word to track any changes you make. In Word: Tools / Track Changes.

If you do not have Word or the Word viewer on your computer, but you do have Acrobat Reader on your computer, then you will probably want to read the .pdf version.

I have also created an html version of this essay. It is generated by the html creation engine in Word. I recommend that you read the Word or .pdf version, rather than the html version, since the html generated by Word is mediocre.
